Why I chose to do this cosplay:
I was looking for a League of Legends character to cosplay next and I stumbled upon Ahri’s Elderwood skin. I absolutely fell in love with the design. Since I knew I’d be attending El Mundo Fantasia again this year, I decided to make this cosplay for that convention. It’s a fantasy convention and the park is amazing for fantasy and nature themed photoshoots. And then the concrunch began…
How I made this cosplay:
I made the leaves for the skirt, the crown, and the top out of 5 mm EVA foam. I used a dremel to smooth out the foam and fix a few things like dents and cuts. Then I used a heat gun to shape the leaves. I applied a white primer as a base and painted over it. The horns were bought off AliExpress but I painted them and glued the crown piece and flowers on top. I used fabric dye to create a purple ombre effect for the wig but I do not recommend this because it still stains my skin even after drying and styling. I styled the wig and glued on some purple wefts on the sides. On the back I glued on some shiny plastic to wrap around the braid, added a flower, and made a little butterfly clip for her hair. The tail is made out of shiny tulle fabric with a holographic heart print. I used wire to make it posable and wrapped some LEDs around the wire. The skirt with leaves was glued onto a thick elastic band and can be opened and closed with two clips. I also made a small orb prop using a plastic DIY Christmas ball. I painted the inside with two coats of purple glass dye, added some purple LEDs, and used fish wire to make it look like it floats.
My thoughts on this cosplay:
I really hope to one day complete this cosplay, since the leg and arm pieces are still missing. I also hope to redo her wig, since it stains my whole neck purple when I wear it… Wig dyeing is still a skill I need to learn more about! I’m very proud of this costume, I think it looks great for my first ever EVA foam cosplay! I really enjoyed working with foam, and I think it’s something I’ll do more often!
